La série Fading Icons est précurseur de Dissolutions et chevauchements et marque le début de mon exploration photographique à partir de formes peintes, réalisée entre 2012 et 2015. À l’origine, je me limitais à l’utilisation d’un vocabulaire simple, emprunté à des tableaux de peintres tel Malévitch, Mondrian ou Molinari. Outre le fait de préserver une certaine lisibilité de la forme, ce choix m’aura permis d’identifier et de mieux comprendre les potentialités et différents effets associés à l’emploi de ces nouveaux procédés, qui en étaient alors encore à leurs balbutiements. Le titre de la série désigne l’évanescence de ces images et la « distance historique croissante qui nous sépare de l’âge exalté des avant-gardes, dont nous ne partageons plus les certitudes ni la foi dans l’absolu ».* – Lire le texte de démarche.

The Fading Icons series is precursor of Dissolutions et chevauchements and the beginning of my photographic exploration with painted and cutted forms, developed between 2012 and 2015. At the time, I kept to a simple vocabulary borrowed from such painters as Malevich, Mondrian, Molinari. Apart from preserving a kind of formal legibility, this choice allowed me to identify and better understand the potentialities and effects associated with these new techniques, which were still in the very early stages of development. The title Fading Icons designates the evanescence of the resulting images and the “growing historical distance which separates it from the glory days of the avant-gardes, whose certainties and faith in the absolute we no longer share.”* – Read Artist Statement.
